Walk from Obergurgl across Achbrücke bridge and along the steep trail leading up to "Beil" area. Continue hiking past lush meadows and flowers in full bloom, overlooking the picture-book Alpine valleys. The high elevation trail takes you to Gurgl's pasturelands and Küppele Schäferhütte. Here you continue on the steeply climbing path until you reach the two "Herrenbäche" mountain brooks. Keep to the right at the height of the former goods lift, following the switch-backing route up to "Köpfele" peak where you find the serviced Ramolhaus.

Turn-by-turn directions

Variant 1: From Obergurgl via the Achbrücke, a steep climb to the "Beil", then a flowery and promising high mountain promenade across the Hochmähder of the Gurlger farmers to the Küppele-Schäfer hut. From there, first steep, then again moderately ascending to the two "Herrenbächen". From the former material cableway, the path turns to the right in steep turns to the "Kopfle" on which the farmed Ramolhaus stands.  

 

Variant 2: From Vent through the magnificent Zirbenwald to the Ramolalm, from there a steep ascent to Ramoljoch (3.200 m). The descent leads over rocks (rope protection, steps in the rock) to Ramolferner and further about 30 minutes walk to the hut. This tour is recommended only in good weather and appropriate alpine equipment.

 

Public transport

Enjoy a both comfortable and relaxing train ride to the train station in Ötztal Bahnhof. You get off the train in ÖTZTAL Bahnhof where you change to a public bus or local taxi. The current bus schedule can be found at: http://fahrplan.vvt.at

Variant 1: In Obergurgl-Hochgurgl the following parking facilities are available: Car park Village center Obergurgl (in front of the church on the right, behind the multi-purpose building where the information office is also located) Parking lot with coin entrance Parking Place entrance - valley station Festkoglbahn, free of charge - Parking Hochgurglbahn valley station, free of charge - no parking at night Parking Top Mountain Crosspoint, free of charge Parking Hochgurgl, free of charge (very small parking)  

 

Variant 2: In front of the village and at the valley station from the chair lift (payable)
