Kühtrainschlucht Trail is very challenging in terms of biking techniques. Therefore it is a black trail. You can ride it in both directions. It connects Zwieselstein and Sölden (hamlet of Moos). Tree roots and steps line the entire route.

In long past times the ravine of Kühtrainschlucht was the only connection between Sölden and Zwieselstein. Today the route is used by active sportsmen of all ages, especially by avid mountain bikers. The elevation profile may not reveal everything: right at the start you'll find a truly challenging and steeply ascending section. A couple of steps and narrow railings require both stamina and courage. Two exhausting ascents await you at the end before a flowing downhill passage takes you to the village.

Author’s recommendation

The trail is rideable in both directions. If you want to avoid the federal road you can also return on the same route or take the public bus running between Sölden and Zwieselstein.

Arriving by Train

Enjoy a comfortable and relaxing train ride to the train station in Ötztal Bahnhof. The public bus lines to all holiday resorts in the valley (direction Obergurgl) leave directly in front of the train station. The bus ride to Sölden takes about 1 – 1.5 hours.

Sölden is located in the West of Austria, more exactly in the Province of TIROL. It nestles amidst the ÖTZTAL Valley, a south-facing side valley of the Inntal.

From Vorarlberg to Tirol via Arlberg Pass or through Arlberg Tunnel (S 16 Federal Road) - direction Landeck - change to A 12 Autobahn (direction Innsbruck) - exit: Ötztal after driving through Roppener Tunnel - on B 186 Federal Road (35 km) to Sölden

From the North:

Parking

There are ample parking areas and covered parking garages at the base stations of Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch Mountain Gondolas. Parking is free of charge between 8.00 am and 7.00 pm!
