Sustainability & regionality at #ÖRM

Pedaling step by step towards a green future

The starting field of the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon sets - or rather pedals - the best example as far as sustainable mobility is concerned. However, the athletes conquer the 227 kilometer long race course using only their muscle power. The topics of sustainability and regionality are also of utmost importance to us organizers and we are therefore determined to continuously increase our efforts to that effect. Here you will find out more about all sustainable measures we are taking this year.

Starter package:

✓ Our partner Tirol Werbung refrains from producing goodies and provides all participants with a regional vitamin bomb in the form of an apple

✓ Jute bags instead of plastic gym bags

✓ Shiva Bio drinking bottle by Konable: 100% biodegradable

✓ Energy bars from our Powerbar partner, featuring cellulose packaging that is 100% garden-compostable

Gastronomy & refreshment stations:

✓ Regional gastronomy instead of pasta party

✓ Refreshment stations are looked after by regional hotels and the goods come from regional suppliers or partners

✓  The cakes at the refreshment stations come exclusively from Ötztal hobby bakers and regional bakeries

✓ Only reusable cups along the route (refreshment stations) and in the sports hall, thus (plastic) waste is significantly reduced

Digital first:

✓ We will try to use as little paper as possible. Instead, we provide QR Codes and all information on the website

✓ There is a large information board in the hall, displaying all the important details

Mobility:

✓ Arrival by public bus and train is possible

✓ The public bus line runs through Ötztal every half hour: comfortable for all spectators on Sunday, and on all other days also for the athletes

✓ Guarded bicycle garage throughout the weekend so that you can pick up your starter pack on foot or by bike

✓ Shuttle to the start: your car can stay at the accommodation
