Hiking time: 7 - 8 hours
General information:
All participants who reach the finish area by 5.00 pm receive the "Gries Glacier Hike Medal". Special prizes for the fastest woman, the fastest man, the youngest (male/female) or the oldest (male/female) participant and the biggest hiking group.
Important information:
The Gries Glacier Hike is a high Alpine mountaineering tour which also includes snow fields, glacier crossings with crevasses and gravel fields at 3050 m above sea level. Most of the stages are equipped with trail markers. Glacier sections only feature wooden stakes. Sturdy hiking boots, appropriate hiking clothes, raingear, food and drink, sun cream and cold protection equipment are absolutely required. Additionally, the glacier hike is only suitable for surefooted mountaineers with a good head for heights and an excellent physical condition. Due to safety reasons, it is forbidden to leave the marked routes. Please take your garbage down to the valley!
