"BRATL", "GRÖSTL" & OTHER DELIGHTS

Maria Grießer's wood-fired oven looks like a monster, by contrast Jakob Prantl's model is really tiny. This mega-oven can be found at "Gasthof Stern" in Oetz, its "smaller" brother some 70 km away at "Gampe Thaya" mountain hut in Hochsölden. The rustic parlors of Ötztal's innkeepers are quite different but there is one thing for sure: using local products and preparing mouth-watering delights according to old Tirolean recipes is an absolute must!

Throughout the valley - between Hochsölden and Haiming - we enjoy hearty, traditional specialties in a rustic ambiance such as "Kaspressknödel" (fried cheese dumplings) at Feldringalm hut towering high above Ochsengarten-Oetz or "Haussulz" (traditional jellied meat) on the sunbathing terrace of the historical Bichl hut located above Niederthai. These really substantial specialties are highlights not to be missed during your stay in the Ötztal.

Picturesque mountain inn (1888m) serving many different kinds of typical dumplings combined with speck or grey cheese platters, spare ribs and roast pork shank (on prior arrangement), and homemade cakes. Open daily from June to October. Hut taxi on request.

The Holzknecht Family serves hearty snacks or coleslaw and cheese spaetzle at 1600m above sea level. Sweet delights: omelette, scrambled pancake, apricot dumplings. Children's playground, holiday apartments. Open daily from mid June to mid October.
