Albrecht wins – Cuche comes second
The Swiss skiing team has dominated the men's World Cup Opening races of Sölden. Daniel Albrecht won the giant slalom at Rettenbach glacier, followed by another Swiss ski racer, Didier Cuche. Unfortunately the Austrian athletes could not achieve any medals: Benjamin Raich had bad luck and came only fourth while Christoph Gruber finished sixth in the overall ranking.. br/>

FIS SKIWORLDCUP OPENING - RESULTS WOMEN GS

The Austrian women's alpine skiing team has opened the new World Cup Season with a great success on the occasion of Saturday's giant slalom race held in Sölden: 22-year old Kathrin Zettel delighted her home crowd with a superb second run! Zettel's combined time gave the Austrian a 0.98 seconds victory over Tanja Poutiainen of Finland. After six years the Austrian women's alpine skiing team celebrated again a great success at Rettenbach glacier. br/>

SKI WORLDCUP OPENING 2008 - SÖLDEN

On 25+26 October 2008 Sölden/Tirol/Austria again hosts the ultimate FIS Ski World Cup Races. As every year, the women's giant slalom opens the new World Cup season. In the 2008/09 winter season Alpine Ski World Championships are scheduled as well.

On the occasion of the Ski World Cup Opening bus transfers are oganized in cooperation with Raiffeisen in the entire province of Tirol.

On both race days shuttle buses to the races held on Rettenbach Glacier and back again are available.

Advance ticket sale in all Raiffeisen Banks in Tirol.
