FROM SIEGERLAND HUT TO HILDESHEIMER HUT VIA GAMSPLATZL AREA

High Alpine hiking tour on well-maintained and signposted trails. Only expert hikers with an excellent physical shape can make the tour in one day. It is recommended to stay overnight at Siegerland Hut. Alpine experience, surefootedness, expert hiking equipment and a good head for heights are absolutely required. Ropes and ice picks are not necessary.

Sölden (1377m) - Siegerland Hut (2710m)

The picturesque trail from Sölden to Siegerland Hut travels along a gravel road leading right across the romantic Windachtal Valley up to Fiegl's Gasthaus Inn (walking time: 1.5 h). Continue walking along the gravel road towards the slightly descending valley until you reach the base terminal of the goods lift leading up to Hildesheimer Hut (2110m). Cross the bridge and proceed to the upper Windachtal Valley and on the scenic Siegerland Hut towering high above the region.

Siegerland H. (2710m) - Gamsplatzl Area (3019m) - Hildesheimer Hut (2899m)

The slightly descending, signposted trail leads trough Scheiblehn Area (50m difference in altitude) down to the glacier snout of Triebenkarferner. Take the steeply rising path from the west-facing moraine and continue heading to Gamsplatzl Area (3019m). Follow the well-maintained footpath right below the south-western edge of Pfaffenferner Glacier. Cross several glacier brooklets and continue hiking towards the mountain hut at the elevation of 2700m. Proceed up the winding footpath via Gaißbachgraben Rift to Hildesheimer Hut (2899m).

Hildesheimer Hut (2899m) - Sölden (1377m)

Take the steeply descending footpath down to Windachtal Valley and Fiegl's Gasthaus Inn. Then follow the gravel road back to Sölden.
