LATEST INFORMATION ON THE 2010 ANNIVERSARY MARATHON
By 26 March 2010, already 4518 cycling fans have decided to participate in the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon - if all goes well. Experience has shown that some 18 to 19 percent who already paid the entry fee do not appear on the starting line - on upward trend. Therefore we organize a second drawing of 450 starting places on Friday, May 07. The entry fee must be paid within the following three weeks. Deadline is on Friday, 28 May 2010. Your registration status can be checked at any time on our homepage. All participants will receive a written confirmation of their start number via e-mail until 01 August 2010. This original starting place confirmation must be signed and handed in at the starter's package point in Sölden. Please bring a valid photo identity card when you pick up your starting number. And don't forget that there could be severe complications if you pass your starting number to another cyclist. It is strictly forbidden. In case a cyclist with a personalized number has an accident or collapses unconscious he will be brought to the hospital under a false name! We don't even think about the consequences.Of course, the 30 starting places for vintage bicycles have already been taken. A challenging race awaits us! You can admire really unique bicycles deeply rooted in history. A highlight not to be missed.
What's more - David Weichenberger, the Tirolean unicyclist who took part in the "Wetten dass...?" TV show, will perform his great artistic show also in Sölden. A varied anniversary program is waiting for all cycling fans. By the end of April all events will be scheduled.
The ultimate "Ötztaler Sattelfest" exhibition ranks among the marathon's highlights. Twice as much bicycle and sports gear producers have registered for the anniversary exhibition. The exhibition area was enlarged but the exhibition time was shortened: new 2011 models and materials are presented - only with few exceptions - all day long on Friday, 27 August, and Saturday, 28 August!

The ultimate "Ötztaler" celebrates already its 30th birthday and everyone is warmly invited to join us. On 22 August 1982, the Ötztaler Cycle Marathon was officially kicked-off. Exactly 154 cyclists started the race from the Wilten Basilica in Innsbruck at 6:15 am in the morning. A quite small group of male racers from five different countries. Only one year later the first female athletes dared to participate.
